MJ'S DETAILS
The history of this blazer has its roots in the Ivy League.
The so-called “Ivy” style originated when students at colleges on the American East Coast began experimenting with sportier, more casual variations of British men’s fashion. A prime example of this is the unlined blazer: It draws on the sturdy fabrics and classic silhouettes of the British sports coat, yet appears significantly more relaxed thanks to its lightweight construction and the absence of shoulder pads.
The Kamakura model is inspired by the student style of the 1950s.
The details are, of course, typical “Ivy”: naturally soft, “unpadded” shoulders, narrow lapels, and a “3-roll-2” button placket, as well as the absence of chest darts, a patch chest pocket, and two patch pockets with flaps.
Pair this blazer with chinos from TBRM, an Oxford shirt from Kamakura, and a regimental tie from Petronius—and you’ve nailed the perfect Ivy League look!
